Trial version & licence
Trial version limits, activating a licence code, and moving a licence to another computer.
The app you download can be used straight away as a trial version. Every feature can be tried; only the amount of data you can add is limited. Enter a licence code to unlock full access.
Trial version limits#

- The limits apply everywhere: adding one by one, Excel/CSV/XML/DwC-A import, name checks, online photos, the AI assistant and the MCP server.
- Imports do not fail when a limit is reached: what fits is imported and the rest is reported. Once your licence is active, import the same file again to complete it.
- Existing data can always be edited, exported and deleted. The sample project fits within the limits.
- The remaining quota is shown at the bottom of the sidebar, e.g. Trial · 12/25 entities.
Activating a licence code#
- Click the Trial badge in the sidebar, or open Settings → Licence → Enter licence code. You can also use the Pustaka Biodiversitas → Licence… menu (macOS) or Help → Licence… (Windows).
- Type or paste the code, which looks like
PBIO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Lower case and spaces are fine. - Click Activate. Activation needs the internet once; after that the app works fully offline.
One code can be activated on 2 computers (Mac or Windows) unless stated otherwise when you buy it. The buyer's name and email are shown in the Licence dialog.
Moving to a new computer#
On the old computer, open the Licence dialog and click Release from this computer. Its device slot becomes free again and the same code can be activated on the new computer. Project data is not affected; move the .biodiv folder as usual.
Periodic check#
When the app opens (at most once a day) and whenever the Licence dialog is opened, the app asks the server whether its licence is still valid. When offline, the licence stays active. A revoked licence (for example because a payment was reversed or a code was shared widely) goes back to the trial version; no data is lost.
